Marine Technical Apprenticeship Program

At Mercury Marine, Australia, we offer a 4 year Marine Technician Apprenticeship Program leading to full Marine Technician qualifications. Marine Technicians are in high demand and this program provides the opportunity for an exciting career either within Mercury or out in the dealer network.

The apprenticeship is run in conjunction with TAFE course Certificate III in Automotive Marine Mechanics and will lead to qualifications in Outboard and Sterndrive engines. Apprentice technicians must be self motivated and work well in a team environment with a keen interest in boating and mechanics.

Apprenticeship training includes:

Rebuilding and repair of marine engines, gearboxes & components.
Conversion of customized engine models
Computer diagnostics & tuning
Boat rigging & testing
Warehouse and distribution
Customer Service
Safe Practices
External TAFE Training

A Marine Technical Apprentice will need to:

Be self motivated and work well in a team environment
Have a keen interest in boating and mechanics
Be willing to learn and embrace new technology
Have an enthusiastic work ethic and commitment
Be dedicated to service excellence
Display accuracy and attention to detail in their workst in boating and mechanics.
