Unlike a car that is largely used up by the time the engine wears out, a boat can live on, often through several engine changes. A well designed hull has a timeless style - a thing of beauty whether on the dock or on the water.
To some the mere thought of replacing their tired engines with a pair of new fuel efficient ones sound great, however, to others the task may appear somewhat daunting. After all repowering any inboard is a little more involved than dropping a new outboard onto a transom.
A few basic considerations will help define your repowering project
- The engine must fit within the existing space.
- The weight of the engine should not be in excess of the unit being replaced,
- There must be sufficient clearance around the new engine for inspection and maintenance access.
A successful repower project involves two equally important decisions.
- Firstly, selection of the right engine for your boat and your needs, and

All new MerCruiser engines are manufactured complete and include the following components:
* Power Steering - Standard on all sterndrive engines packages except 3.0L(4cyl)
* Fuel System Multiport Injection or Turn-key start Carbureted.
* Bass Sea Water Pump - standard on all Bravo, Alpha freshwater-cooled sterndrive packages, inboards and towsports engines.
* Waterpump
* Thermostat Housing
* Trim Pump - Standard on all sterndrive packages
* Cool Fuel System - Standard on all MPI Engines
* Dry-joint Exhaust Manifolds
* Starter
* Oil Pan
* Steering Actuator
* Flywheel Housing
