On-Line Training Goes Live

09.11.2009

Mercury has launched its new world-class LEARN on-line training system into Australia and New Zealand.

Owners of Mercury, Mariner and MerCruiser products will be the winners as the LEARN system will result in Mercury technicians who are even better trained and qualified in the latest technology.

The LEARN system has been used by thousands of Mercury technicians in the United States since its introduction earlier this year and has proved to be highly beneficial for providing access to the latest product training information.

"Australia and New Zealand are the first countries after the US to utilise this new on-line resource, so we're pretty excited," said Guy Williamson, Mercury Marine's Director of Service and Quality (Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Region).

Mercury's LEARN system offers more than 90 on-line learning courses and examinations, ranging from basic marine engine technology through to the latest computer diagnostics and MerCruiser Axius joystick docking system.

Mercury, Mariner and MerCruiser technicians have 24/7 access to LEARN so they can study when they want and progress as fast as they want.

Better training management

"The system provides technician learning plans, on-line training courses and service school pre-requisite requirements," Guy said.

"But it also allows service managers to closely monitor and develop all their staff. They can see at a glance everyone's training history and their individual learning paths.

"They can also book technicians into instructor-led training courses which still have to be done externally at Mercury training centres throughout Australia and New Zealand.  The LEARN system will electronically advise acceptances, updates and course attendance reminders."
