New inflatable PFD sets the standard in comfort

Recent changes to marine safety regulations mean people are spending more time wearing their
Personal Floatation Device (PFD) - so you want to make sure yours is as comfortable as possible.

Quicksilver's new inflatable PFD1 jacket has been designed to be safe and effective while being comfortable enough to wear all day.

It doesn't cut into the back of your neck, rub your shoulders or scratch your skin, which is far too common especially with the old "brick" PFDs.

The improved shape of Quicksilver's new PFD means it sits better across the neck and shoulders without any loss of functionality. A padded neoprene collar and extended length adds to the comfort level.

It is also much less restrictive than most PFDs on the market.

"For example, now in Victoria everyone in a boat under 4.8m has to wear a PFD. If you're out fishing or cruising with the family then you might be wearing one virtually all day so comfort is crucial," said Quicksilver's Accessories Director, Paul McLean.

"PFD's are there to save your life and the more comfortable they are the happier people will be to put them on and keep them on.

Of course, the new QuickSilver PFD meets Australian Standard AS 1512 for personal flotation devices, and it is approved for use in all Australian states and in New Zealand. 

It also comes in a re-useable, breathable plastic storage bag so it can be easily put away in a convenient spot.

"Because a PFD is a critical safety device you want to make sure you buy a brand that's known and trusted," Paul said.

"The inflation mechanism on these jackets comes from the leading manufacturer in the US - a company which has been in this business for more than 60 years."
